The City of Santa Clarita funds the Los Angeles County Sheriff - Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's COBRA (Gang and Juvenile Crime Team) and the Community Interaction Team (CIT) to apprehend graffiti vandals. Through this partnership, the Graffiti detectives make more than 150 arrests per year with nearly a 100% conviction rate. In addition, the detectives shuts down approximately 10 tagging crews responsible for thousands of dollars in damages within the City of Santa Clarita per year. In fact, these enforcement efforts have resulted in 42 graffiti related arrests through September 2007, and the apprehension of several suspects believed to be responsible for more than $100,000 in graffiti related damages throughout the city.

These efforts, along with the City’s award winning graffiti reporting and tracking system, in conjunction with the Graffiti Removal Task Force, have resulted in a reduction in reported incidents of graffiti from 376 last year (Jan.-Sept.) to 303 for the same period in 2007, for the entire Santa Clarita Valley. The City of Santa Clarita has one of the most aggressive graffiti removal and tracking systems in the country.
